Welcome to The Wellness Brief
I’m on a journey of self-discovery (aren’t we all?).
As passion and purpose unfold and align, I’ve realized there’s almost nothing more beautiful than doing this alongside a community. My community is made up of people who’ve been where I am, those I walk alongside, and those I’m now in a position to support. If you're here and plan on following along, you are apart of this community and I'm so thankful for your being here. Doing this is requiring a strong effort to overcome imposter syndrome (more on that in this BBC article) so y'all bear with me.
I want to come from a shared understanding that “wellness” is not just what your doctor tells you or the next “hot Pilates-cold plunge-losing 50 pounds in 50 days” challenge.
Wellness is much more holistic.
In Public Health, we're taught to consider multiple levels of influence that impact how and why you make the decisions you do as it concerns your health.
Everything from state driving laws to your family dynamics can have an impact.
I made this little display with questions to ask yourself.
Consider how those things influence your health- including mental wellbeing, illness, physical activity opportunities and social connectedness.
Lots of the science we need to know to live a healthy life is not Open Access but is behind a paywall, only accessible through higher education or from those willing to dole out money every month. This information is purposefully designed to be read and reviewed by "peers" and, therefore, ensures that the knowledge stays among peers. My goal is to share wellness information in a way that is fun and easy to keep stored in your brain.

What Kiara’s Doing to Promote Her Own Wellness
(It also wouldn’t be a K-Hunter original production if I didn’t sprinkle in social issues. I’m keen to deep dive into the U.S. health insurance system here shortly :)
DISCLAIMER: I’m not a medical provider, and nothing here is intended to diagnose or treat any condition. If you’ve had a rash for weeks and are Googling whether it’s psoriasis or eczema… close this tab and call your doctor.
I am, however, a scholar at heart: deeply inquisitive about all thing’s health, wellness, and the human experience. I believe in the empowering effect of knowledge sharing and my goal is to offer insights that spark curiosity from wherever you are in your wellness journey.
In these posts, and in life, I aim to uphold these tenants:
· Wellness should be accessible, not intimidating
· Knowledge should be shared, not hoarded
· Growth feels better and is often more sustainable when it's done together
Hold me accountable. Let me know if things start to feel like a lecture instead of a conversation, or if “briefs” stop feeling brief. If I start to sound like the next health craze, call me out.
